Abbott outlines 5-point plan to cut property tax in Texas

After announcing his bid for reelection Nov. 9, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been making campaign stops in different areas throughout the state. The three-term governor made a stop in Tarrant County at Rex’s Bar and Grill near Texas Christian University campaigning on pro-taxpayer policies.

Talking to residents and supporters Dec. 4, Abbott shared his “taxpayer empowerment pledge” which included five policies he will be campaigning on:

  1. Require common sense spending limits
  2. Require two-thirds voter approval for tax increases
  3. Empower voters to roll back taxes
  4. Create appraisal predictability, cap appraisal growth
  5. Eliminate school property taxes for homeowners
