The Springtown Public Library hosted a Sesame Workshop titled “Raising Kids in a Digital World” at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12. The workshop is a 45-minute program where kids and their parents can explore healthy digital habits together through story time, creativity and movement — guided by beloved Sesame Street characters. The workshops have been hosted at different libraries across the U.S. from mid-October and will continue through the end of the year. The materials provided were completely free for libraries.
The Sesame Workshop is the global nonprofit behind Sesame Street. The nonprofit has come out with resources, in collaboration with Google, to guide parents on digital well-being for kids from an early age.
From screen time to mindful tech use, the content provided includes videos, activities, interactive games and parenting articles featuring Sesame Street characters. At the Springtown library, Library Clerk Janet Witter read books to children about technology and played a video produced by Sesame Street about going outside and enjoying the outdoors.
