Layne family fuels racing success from Springtown shop
The race team consists of (l-r): 2024 National Rookie of the Year Cam Gaston, grandfather Langston Layne and 2025 National Rookie of the Year Christian Gaston.

What started as a one-bay garage in 1948 has grown into a hometown racing operation that’s producing national success for the next generation.

Langston Layne, owner and operator of Pro-Max Powersports in Springtown, is carrying on a family tradition that began with his grandfather, Ed Layne, while building, sponsoring and tuning sport mod race cars for his two grandsons, Christian and Cameron Gaston.

The results speak for themselves. The Gaston brothers earned back-to-back National Rookie of the Year honors from the International Motor Contest Association, with younger brother Cameron winning the award in 2024 and Christian following with the 2025 title.
