Parker County Center of Hope held its Celebration of Hope event Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Venue on the Square bringing hot meals, toys, treats and so much more.
The event was slated to begin at 11 a.m. but the line of residents waiting to receive their blessings prompted things to kick off early, Center of Hope Chief Executive Officer Staci Markwardt said. Inside, dozens of “joy stations” were staged with items such as socks, hats and gloves that people could make their way through — even stopping for a photo op with Santa along the way. Similarly, outside the building tables were set up with sweets, treats and a bike raffle for the little ones!
While families enjoyed the well-organized event, volunteers were busy serving up hot plates of pulled pork barbeque with all the sides — eating and congregating, family style. Adjacent to the celebration, Toys for Tots also brought light and love to the community, handing out boxes of toys for those that pre-registered.
