Senior point guard Ayden Lugo had 23 points against Western Hills in the Bridgeport tournament.

The Springtown boys basketball team split games on the opening day of the Bridgeport Tournament Monday, Dec. 29, falling to City View before bouncing back with a convincing win over Fort Worth Western Hills.

The Porcupines opened tournament play with an 80-55 loss to City View, then responded with a 58-35 victory over Western Hills. Ayden Lugo led Springtown with 23 points in the win, while Jodi Yescas added 10.

Springtown continued tournament action Tuesday, Dec. 30, but ran into a tough Wichita Falls Memorial squad. The Mavericks controlled the game from the opening tip and handed the Porcupines a 62-26 loss.
