Glow Dance arrives at SES Jan. 30

Get the glow sticks ready as Springtown Elementary PTA hosts its annual Glow Dance Party Friday, Jan. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The festive two-hour event will have a live DJ spinning all the favorite kid-friendly tunes under black lights, so everyone is encouraged to wear neon or white to make sure they glow.

Pre-sale tickets will be available Jan. 1-26 for $10 each and include two glow sticks, one pizza slice, one drink and a sweet treat. Family packs include five entry tickets, 10 glow sticks, a large pizza, five drinks and five treats. Tickets sold at the door will be $15 each while supplies last. Glow accessories will be for sale at the door. Come ready to dance the night away with friends and family!

Blood Drive set for Feb. 2

Together with Carter BloodCare, the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance will host the Carter BloodCare blood drive Monday, Feb. 2 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Azle, located at 200 Church St. in Azle.

Computer skills classes begin Feb. 3

Parker County Center of Hope invites everyone to join in to learn basic computer skills for anyone ready to feel more confident using a computer every Tuesday from Feb. 3 through Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The free basic computer class will have no pressure or rushing, just supportive step-by-step learning in a welcoming environment designed for beginners who want to learn at a comfortable pace.

Valentine’s Gala arrives Feb. 20

Love is in the air, and the Springtown Lions Club will host its first annual Valentines Gala Friday, Feb. 20, with all proceeds benefiting the club’s baseball and softball programs.

Funds raised will go toward improving existing fields and facilities, creating new practice fields, upgrading equipment and the continuation of the programs.

Tickets for the event are $75 and individual beverage packages are available for $50. The event is open to those age 18 and older, but anyone under the age of 21 will not receive a beverage package or wristband. Table packages ranging from bronze to platinum levels are also available for purchase.

Church offers free breakfast burritos

Hope Lutheran Church invites you to enjoy its free breakfast burritos each first Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. or until supplies run out.

Free coffee and juice will be served upon request — just drive through their parking lot to be served in your car. All bikers and walkers are welcome as well.

Register now for flag football league

Are you ready to get your child engaged in an active flag football program dedicated to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and personal development? Well, it’s not too late, because the Tri-County Flag Football League is still accepting applicants for its upcoming spring season.

The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-17 and includes co-ed and all girl divisions. Registration fee is $125 per player and includes full uniform. The first game of the season is March 28 and games run through May 16.

Springtown Library monthly events

Each month, the Springtown library hosts free monthly events for children, teens and adults alike. For more information about movie listings or specific details, visit www.springtownlibrary.com/.

  • Story and Craft Time, each Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Teen Movie Afternoon, first Saturday of the month, movie TBD, 2:30-5 p.m.
  • LEGO Club, last Friday of the month, 1 p.m.

The LEGO Club is open to all interested kids and there is no need to sign up. Just show up and the library will provide the LEGO bricks, while the kids provide the imagination.

Adults must stay and help build with their kids. Please leave your own LEGOs at home unless you would like to donate them, in which case we thank you in advance.
