The Springtown Lady Pines continued their District 7-4A schedule last week with a road trip to Krum and a home matchup against Burkburnett, running into a pair of tough opponents during a challenging stretch of the season.

Springtown traveled to Krum Tuesday, Jan. 20, and battled in a low-scoring defensive contest. The Lady Pines stayed within striking distance throughout but came up just short in a 27-22 loss. Freshman Carli Mathis led Springtown with seven points, while Kaylee Falcon added five.

The Lady Pines were scheduled to host Burkburnett Friday, Jan. 23, but winter weather forced the game to be moved up to Thursday, Jan. 22. Despite a strong home crowd, Burkburnett pulled away for a 58-32 district win.

The two losses put a dent in Springtown’s playoff hopes as the Lady Pines now sit at 12-14 overall and 3-6 in district play. Decatur continues to lead the district with a perfect 9-0 record and is currently ranked No. 1 in the state. Burkburnett, Bridgeport and Krum also remain ahead of Springtown in the district standings.

The Lady Pines face two more challenging district contests this week. The Ladies will be back on the road Friday, Jan. 30, when they travel to Castleberry.
