The University Interscholastic League released its biennial reclassification and realignment for the 2026–28 seasons Monday, Feb. 2, setting off the familiar round of anticipation and adjustment for schools across Texas.
The UIL announced new district alignments for football, volleyball and basketball, with placements based on student enrollment figures in an effort to promote competitive balance. Once released, the new alignments immediately send athletic departments into planning mode as schedules begin to take shape for the next two seasons.
