A new program is offering Texas ranchers, farmers and forest landowners financial incentives encouraging them to implement new practices with the goal of improving soil health and reducing gas emissions.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service-funded program awarded $65 million in grants to Texas A&M University AgriLife Research and its six partner organizations to launch in 2025. Those who apply and meet requirements could receive grants of up to $100,000.
The project is led by Texas A&M’s Dr. Julie Howe, professor of soil science, Dr. Nithya Rajan, professor of agronomy and project manager Jason Vogel, who recently hosted a webinar outlining the program’s details.
