Springtown ISD music department hosted its All-City Elementary Choir concert Thursday, Jan. 22 at Springtown High School, where more than 100 elementary students across the district gathered for a one evening recital that showcased weeks of preparation and collaboration.
The ensemble, composed of fourth graders from Springtown, Goshen Creek and Reno Elementary Schools as well as fifth graders from Springtown Intermediate School began the busy day with a final rehearsal on the SHS stage. Afterward, the choir headed to Cici’s Pizza — a crowd favorite — where the energy and excitement of the upcoming performance filled the room. Fueled by carbs and laughter, the students were ready to give it their all as they returned to the high school for the night’s performance.
Music teachers from each campus — Sally McPhetrige of SES, Trisha Weaver of GCES, Sandra Boyd of RES and Robert Quinene, SIS — played distinct roles in preparing their students, but the event came together through a collective effort. In the weeks leading up to the concert, the teachers coordinated rehearsals, shared materials and worked to ensure students arrived confident and ready despite coming from four different campuses.
