Tensions rose during the Monday, Feb. 9, Reno City Council meeting as members debated how to appropriately use remaining fire service funds allocated to Parker County Emergency Services District No. 1.
With tax season underway and people reviewing their finances for the next 10 months, it’s probable that questions may arise. If the question involves a bucket containing $225,000 — it’s almost certain. That was the topic of the evening — what to do with the remaining funds that were set aside for fire and emergency services PCESD1 has been providing the city of Reno since the two entities entered into an agreement that commenced Oct. 1, 2025.
City Administrator Paul Lilly did not hesitate and immediately began the discussion by bringing up concerns that stemmed from last year’s meeting.
