Renovations rev at Reno

Fire Station 56 upgrades near completion
Renovations rev at Reno
The former Briar-Reno fire station is nearing completion of renovations since being acquired by PCESD1 last year.

During a Feb. 12 board meeting, Parker County Emergency Services District No.1 detailed a series of renovation updates to the former Briar-Reno fire station that was acquired through last year's interlocal agreement with the city of Reno.

Fire Chief Stephen Watson began his presentation to the board by saying the underground service is now complete with the removal of the low-hanging overhead power line and receipt of a full backup generator. Now that the generator is installed, electricians are working on connectivity and updates before moving all loads over to the new service.

Inside, Engine 56 personnel will enjoy the newly-expanded living quarters that include the remodel of both bathrooms — with the first floor now complete and the second floor underway. New windows have also been added to the washroom in the front foyer space and additional square footage has been added to allow for a watch office near the front entrance.
