Springtown sophomore Dominic Contreras saw his run at the UIL Class 5A State Wrestling Tournament come to an end on the opening day, finishing 1-2 in one of the state’s toughest divisions, 5A wrestling.
Despite the early exit, head coach Cooper Sawyer emphasized the significance of the accomplishment.
“This is a huge accomplishment to make it to the state tournament, something very few wrestlers ever do,” Sawyer said. “Doing it as a sophomore shows where Dominic is headed. We’ll be back with unfinished business.”
