Volunteerism, community champions highlight Pinewood Derby

The energy was high Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, as Scout Troop 303 hosted its annual Pinewood Derby at First United Methodist Church.

This year the troop decided it would be fun to add a blast from the past — a ‘50s theme — to complement the handcrafted drag race cars as they swooshed down the racetrack like grease lightning. Both Cub and Troop Scouts anxiously waited at the finish line in the hope of seeing the cars they had spent weeks meticulously creating cross the finish line first.
