On March 28, the city will host its annual Hop & Shop event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature a free children’s egg hunt at the Newby Pavilion, along with an opportunity for children to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, local vendors and raffles at the Springtown Square.
“We were just trying to create a way to bring the community together while supporting local vendors and small businesses that are on the square. Usually with this event, people go eat and then they come to the egg hunt, or vice versa, they go after; so events like these give the families an opportunity to gather and meet their local neighbors. But it was just pretty much getting to know your local neighbors. Springtown is growing so fast, so it’s kind of bringing the community together and keeping that small town feel,” City Events Coordinator Rachele Ortega said.
The city created a raffle card and partnered with local businesses for the raffle portion of the event. Starting this Friday, people can stop by and pick up a raffle card at one of the 10 participating businesses, including AV Western Wear, Springtown Flower Shop and Highland Furniture. To be able to turn in the raffle card for the drawing, the full card must be stamped by all 10 businesses.
