Dixie Mae Crain placed second at the 4A State Preview tournament

Springtown High School golfer Dixie Mae Crain, a 2025 UIL state qualifier, continued to show strong form last week at the Class 4A State Preview held March 13–14 at The Legends Golf Course.

Crain opened the tournament with an impressive first-round 73, finishing the day tied for the overall lead. She followed that performance with a one-under-par round Saturday, bringing her two-day total to 144, good for second place overall in the highly competitive preview event.

The state preview tournaments are typically reserved for golfers who have a strong chance of advancing to the UIL state tournament. The event also provides players with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the course layout and conditions they could face later in the postseason.
