The city of Reno is one step closer to getting a 7-Eleven convenience store following a public hearing regarding a rezoning request for the McCoy’s Street portion of the commercial project near Midway Road, Tower Street and State Highway 199 in Springtown.
“If we can get them here, let’s do it,” said David Sloane, a Reno resident who spoke in favor of the 7-Eleven and encouraged using tax incentives to attract additional commercial development in hopes of increasing sales tax revenue for the city.
Sloane’s comments led council members to briefly discuss Chapter 380 agreements as one approach cities may use to attract businesses through tax incentives.
