JB Perry was born and raised in Weatherford. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in music education in 1975. After he graduated, he started his teaching career and spent four years at Granbury ISD as the middle school band director. He then spent four years at Aledo ISD as the head band director and one year at Brewer before he decided to take some time off from the profession. He took a few years off from music education and was a sales manager for his father’s roofing and siding business. Eventually Perry realized that music education was truly his calling.
Shortly after moving to Springtown, he and his family got involved with First Baptist Church Springtown, where he teaches Sunday school class to this day. He has been the minister of music for 30 years and has been the minister of senior adults for about three years. As the minister of music he plans the worship services, plays the music and leads the worship. Perry will retire from the minister of music position later next month.
He was also involved with the Springtown Area Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club of Springtown for a few years.
