The Springtown track and field program turned in a strong showing at the POJO Relays Thursday, March 26 at Porcupine Stadium, highlighted by a school record and multiple first-place finishes across varsity and junior varsity divisions.
The Lady Porcupines varsity team scored 111 points to finish second overall in the team standings. Mariam Kolb led the way by winning the discus and also placing second in the shot put. Kaylee Sweely had a standout day, winning the 300-meter hurdles and finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles.
Springtown also set a new school record in the 400-meter relay. The team of Caroline Dittmar, Marleigh Perales, Kayden Spencer and Hannah Dittmar ran a 49.29 to break the previous school record. The same quartet also finished second in the 800-meter relay. Madelyn Walker added another strong finish for the Lady Porcupines, placing second in the 1600-meter run.
