BASEBALL
The Porcupine varsity swept district rival Bridgeport Tuesday, March 24 and Friday, March 27. In Tuesday’s game the Porcupines hosted the Bulls and blew them out 11-3. In Friday’s game the Pines pounced on Bridgeport 16-1. On Saturday, March 28 the Porcupines traveled to Mineral Wells only to end the game in a tie 5-5.
SOFTBALL
The Lady Pines varsity picked up another district win Friday, March 20 when they ran past Decatur 10-6. The Lady Pines returned home Tuesday, March 24 and downed Eagle Mountain 2-1. The Lady Pines are 15-9 in the season and 5-1 in the district race.
The Lady Pines JV picked up two big district wins this past week, shutting down Decatur and then downing Eagle Mountain.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Lady Pines track and field team placed second in the POJO Relays held at Porcupine stadium Thursday, March 26. The Lady Pines 400-meter relay team of Caroline Dittmar, Marleigh Perales, Kayden Spencer and Hannah Dittmar set a new school record of 49.29 while finishing first. Mariam Kolb won the discus and finished second in the shot put. Kaylee Sweely also won the 300-meter hurdles.
The Lady Pines JV finished first overall as a team at the POJO relays, scoring 133 points. Everly Parker won the discus, while Gracelyn Graham won the triple jump and Haidyn Garcia won the shot put. The Lady Pines 400 relay and mile relay won first place.
The Porcupine varsity track team finished fourth overall as a team in the very competitive POJO relays. Omar Hernandez placed second in the 110-meter hurdles; Cashton Parker brought home the silver medal in the triple jump. Kaiden Derby set a new school record in the 3200-meter run, passing current Lady Pines head girls basketball coach and Springtown graduate Ken Thompson.
The Porcupine JV placed second in the POJO Relays. Jaxson Greene won the gold in the 400-meter dash while Cayman Watson won the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. The 1600-meter relay team was made up of Jett Hill, Kolt Killion, Gino Barletta and Jaxon Greene.
