No artist was selected for the city’s planned downtown mural project after it was determined that none of the submissions met the requirements outlined in the request for proposals during the city council meeting March 26.

Officials had noted that many applicants submitted only two design samples while at least one submission included none. The RFP released to the public stated a proposal must include three design samples.

“The reason we requested three samples was because once council selects an artist, we will bring those samples to get public input before selecting the final design,” said Assistant City Administrator Christina Derr. “So it’s very important that we have at least three samples.”
