Senior pitcher Kaden Howard is ready for the Porcupines’ playoff run.

Porcupine baseball came within a run of a district championship, but the team’s postseason hopes remain firmly intact.

Springtown will enter the 2026 UIL Class 4A playoffs after finishing second in District 7-4A with an 11-2 record, closing the regular season at 21-7-2 overall. Decatur claimed the district title at 12-1, while Eagle Mountain and Bridgeport also secured playoff berths.

The Porcupines’ narrow miss came Saturday, April 25, in a one-game, winner-take-all district championship matchup at Boyd. Springtown dropped a 1-0 decision to Decatur in a tightly contested pitcher’s duel.
