I hope I touched your life,
I hope I made an impact.
I hope if our paths ever crossed,
Our hearts touched in a loving act.
I hope when thoughts of me cross your mind,
The memories are sweet and good.
I pray that in our time together,
I treated you as you hoped I would.
Whether our time together was brief or long,
Minutes, days, weeks, or years.
I pray I was able to bring you some laughter,
And help with any sorrowful tears.
I hope I left you with a smile,
Or a bit of good-humored wit.
I pray that in your mind’s eye,
There is nothing for you to lament.
When you have a thought of me now,
I hope you think of me in a good way.
If you ever speak of me to others,
I hope I left you with nice things to say.
I hope you never felt shamed or judged,
By anything I’ve said or done.
I would never want my words or actions,
To cause hurt for anyone.
If there was ever any arrogance,
Or to you I was ever rude,
I ask for your forgiveness right now,
At times my words and actions were miscued.
I hope now and forever after,
All of your time is filled with delight.
My desire is for your heart’s joy,
To overflow all through the day and night.
I certainly admit I’m not perfect,
And I’ve made a lot of mistakes.
But if I’ve wronged you in any way,
I will try to make it up to you, no matter what it takes.
If tears were ever shed between us,
I hope they were tears of glee.
My heart would be painfully hurt,
If I caused you to think less of me.
I promise you now with all that I am,
Our time together was the best for me.
Every touch, spoken word, look, and emotion,
I’ll cherish now and for all of eternity.
Now, I must thank you!
For your participation in my life’s plan.
The contributions you’ve made to me,
Have meant the world to this aging “old man.”
