BASEBALL

The Porcupine varsity baseball team won the bidistrict championship title, taking down Carter Riverside 26-0 in Game 1 and 11-0 in Game 2 to sweep the series. The Pines advance to the next round where they will face off against Stephenville at Godley High School. Game 1 of the area series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Pines varsity won the area championship when they knocked off Big Spring 3-1 in Game 1 and 13-2 in Game 2. Up next for the Lady Pines is a three-game series with West Plains. 

TRACK AND FIELD

The Lady Pines and Porcupines qualified several athletes to the regional track meet in Lubbock. Leading the way was sophomore Mariam Kolb who placed second in the discus to qualify for the state meet. Marleigh Perales placed sixth in the 200-meter dash while Madelyn Walker was sixth in the 1600-meter run and seventh in the 3200-meter run. Kaylee Sweeley ran the 300 hurdles at regionals. The Lady Pine relay teams also ran at the regional meet in Lubbock. The sprint relay finished fifth while the 800 relay took fifth and the mile relay team finished eleventh. Mariam Kolb also threw the shot at regionals and finished fifth. 

The Porcupine varsity track team was well represented as well, sending Jaxson Greene in the 400-meter dash, Brian Ray in the 800-meter run, Brayden Levario in the 1600-meter run, Kaiden Derby in the 3200-meter run and Pilot Grubis and Cashton Parker in the 110-meter hurdles. Grubis and Parker also ran the 300-meter hurdles at regionals in Lubbock. The sprint relay team from Springtown ran 43.0 to place eighth in the regional meet.

Golf

Springtown High School sophomore Dixie Mae Crain played round 1 of the UIL State Golf Championships Monday, May 4 at the Legends Golf Club in Edinburg; results were pending at press time.
