Reva Springfield was born in Fort Worth and moved to Springtown in June of 1956 at of the age of 5. She grew up near Reno with an older and a younger sister. She attended elementary school in Reno and graduated from Springtown High School in 1970. She married her husband Larry in August of 1970, a few months after graduation. The couple had three children, two daughters and son, whom they raised in Springtown.

Springfield always dreamt of becoming a teacher and going to college, but growing up in a low-income household made those opportunities out of reach. However, her love for children remained throughout her life and eventually led her to work with children in a variety of roles.

She “married a lot of people” around the community during her younger days through the full-fledged wedding system she opened in 1985 — Affordable Bridal. Through her business, she offered catering services, wedding cakes, floral service, bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos and prom dresses. Through her bridal business, she hired high school students as part of the Distributive Education Clubs of America program at Springtown High School. DECA is a career and technical education organization that prepares high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
