What is your name and grade?

“Yancy Martinez. I am a senior.”

How long have you played volleyball?

“I have played volleyball now for 10 years.”

Do you have any pets?

“I do. I have a golden doodle and a lot of farm animals. My dogs name is Maggie. We have horses, goats and chickens.”

Do you have a shout out to anyone?

“Yes, my mom. Thank you mom, for always supporting me and being here with me to be the best I can be.”

What is your favorite class in school?.

“It has to be English.”

Tell me one pregame ritual or preperformance routine you go through.

“I pray before every game and I wipe my shoes before every game.”

Lebron or Michael

“Michael for sure.”

What has sports taught you about life?

“It’s taught me how to be independent. It’s taught me teamwork, and it put me through adversity that I have learned to face.”

What does life after high school look like?

“I am going to Seminole, Oklahoma to play volleyball. I am going to study criminal psychology.”

What advice would you give younger athletes?

“Be confident in yourself, don’t belittle yourself and just know that every day is going to be a better day.”
