The Springtown ISD board of trustees swore in a new board member and said farewell to board member Gary Veazey during its Monday, May 18 meeting. The board swore in newcomer Maegan South for Place 5 who ran unopposed for Veazey’s seat after he decided not to seek reelection this year to focus on his pastoral duties at Legacy Church in Springtown.

Springtown ISD Superintendent Shane Strickland spoke a few words of sentiment and appreciation to Veazey for being there for himself plus the district staff.

“This one’s a tough one,” Strickland said. “I appreciate this man for what he has done for me personally and professionally. I can always count on him to be by my side. He would come up here to pray for me. His heart and dedication to the district and six years of service — it’s just been incredible.”
