Editor’s note: This letter was included in a time capsule that was buried July 4, 2026, as part of Springtown’s Star-Spangled Bash celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial. The time capsule will be opened after 50 years — July 4, 2076.

Dear future residents of Springtown,

Hello. My name is David Martin, Springtown City Councilmember Place 3 in the year 2026. Congratulations on finding this time capsule! May its contents be both edifying and entertaining as you rummage through these artifacts from the past, my present.
