The Springtown Independent School District board of trustees approved an Optional Flexible School Day Program for Porcupine Academy during its June 29 board meeting.
Porcupine Academy Principal Andrew Horis presented the board with information about how the change can benefit students. Entering its third year, Horis said Porcupine Academy has been looking into a more flexible online program for the nontraditional students who hold jobs and cannot come to classes every day.
“It gives flexibility and changes the way attendance is accounted for nontraditional students who might have family obligations or work,” Horis said. “This still provides a pathway to graduate high school.”
