Mic’d up for the Porcupines

Local trio bring Springtown sports home
Mic’d up for the Porcupines
The voices of Friday night lights in Springtown are (l-r): Mark Bryant, Rick Beal and Jay Grubis, hosts of Porcupine Radio on YouTube.

What began as three friends believing they could do a better job calling a football game has grown into one of Springtown's favorite traditions.

Since 2018, Rick Beal, Mark Bryant and Jay Grubis have brought Springtown Porcupine athletics to listeners and viewers through Porcupine Radio. Today, the broadcasts stream live on YouTube, allowing fans near and far to follow the Porcupines throughout the school year.

The trio's chemistry is one of the reasons the broadcasts have become so popular. Rather than sounding like polished national broadcasters, they sound like longtime friends talking football from the fence at a Friday night game.
