While many students are enjoying the final weeks of summer break, members of the Sound of Springtown are already on the practice field, enduring triple-digit temperatures as they prepare for the upcoming football and marching band season.
The Springtown High School band began its annual summer band camp the week of July 20, giving students an early start learning music and drills before the school year begins.
Band director Scot McPhetridge said the extra practice time is essential for preparing the band for halftime performances and marching competitions throughout the fall.
