‘We simply will not tolerate it’

A Parker County jury found a Weatherford man guilty Friday, July 17 of sexually abusing a young girl for years.

Darrell Eugene Read, 36, was found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a young child and indecency with a child by contact. The jury sentenced him to life in prison for each charge and assessed a $10,000 fine.

According to prosecutors, Read was convicted of injury to a child and sentenced to four years in prison in 2012. The investigation in that case revealed that a 9-month-old child had suffered bruising in multiple places on her body.
