Texas high school football teams will see several rule changes when the 2026 season begins, including a shorter penalty for offensive pass interference and a new option following a fair catch.
The University Interscholastic League uses National Collegiate Athletic Association football playing rules with certain UIL exceptions, meaning changes adopted at the college level can also affect Texas high school teams.
One of the most noticeable changes this season involves offensive pass interference. The penalty will now be 10 yards instead of 15.
