The Springtown High School cross-country team took the short trip along State Highway 199 Aug. 7 to compete in the Azle ISD Clash of the Classes cross-country meet at Azle’s year-old course.
The course has quickly developed a reputation as a difficult one, with hills and sandy terrain creating an early-season challenge for runners.
SHS state qualifier Madelyn Walker did not let the conditions stand in her way, placing first in her division.
