California native Helen Parker and her husband moved to Springtown in 1972 after living in Jacksboro for a year. The couple raised their two sons in Springtown, where they attended Springtown ISD schools.
Parker worked as a substitute teacher for Springtown ISD and also as the secretary for the technology department at Azle ISD.
She later earned three associate degrees from Weatherford College, including one in computer network administration and another in report processing in 2001. In 2004, she earned an associate degree in applied science in computer micro-option. She earned a Bachelor of Information Technology in computer systems from American InterContinental University in 2006.
