Some people leave their hometown and never look back. Others leave, grow and eventually find their way home.
For Micheal Chavez, coming back to Springtown meant returning to the community that shaped him — with the chance to shape it in return.
After graduating from Springtown High School in 2004, Chavez left home to attend Sul Ross State University. He began his education career in Venus, where he taught for six years, including Spanish and college prep classes. While he was in Venus, he was the head coach for a couple of sports as well as the assistant defensive coordinator for football.
