Springtown water and sewer customers could see a proposed 2% increase in utility rates as early as Oct. 1 based upon the 2026-27 budget the council adopted Aug. 27.
For an average residential customer who uses about 3,000 gallons a month, the increase would add roughly $2.19 to the monthly utility bill. Senior customers who use about 2,000 gallons a month could see an estimated increase of $1.48 per month. Commercial customers who use about 5,000 gallons a month could see an increase of about $2.36 per month.
During the Aug. 27 city council meeting, city secretary and assistant city administrator Christina Derr explained that the increase is based on a utility rate study completed last year and is intended to bridge the gap until the city completes a more comprehensive review of its utility system.
