The Wild West Festival returned to the historic Springtown Square Sept. 19 for its 42nd year.
The festival was begun in 1984 by the Springtown Area Chamber of Commerce, and one board member from that first year has helped to plan and execute each of the 42 events: Mary Harms.
The parade kicked off the festival, and featured Springtown High School groups including the Sound of Springtown, Colorguard, Showstoppers, FFA and the varsity football team. Several businesses, churches and city officials also participated in the parade.
