After 57 years, the legend of the Goatman lives on.

The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge will host its biennial Lake Worth Monster Bash from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at 9601 Fossil Ridge Road. The event will take place inside Broadview Park.

The “Lake Worth Monster” or “Goatman” legend began on the night of July 9, 1969, when three couples parked near Greer Island at Lake Worth — now within the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge’s boundaries — and contacted the Fort Worth Police Department to report a half-man, half-goat creature covered in white fur and scales jumped onto the roof of a car, leaving an 18-inch gouge.
