The city of Springtown’s volunteer program hosted its monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 5, at the Municipal Annex Building, where volunteers became CPR certified through training from the Parker County Hospital District.

The training covered how to perform CPR on children and adults, including how to use an automated external defibrillator, or AED, giving volunteers practical skills they can use in emergencies.

Amy Hedges, volunteer coordinator and museum coordinator, told the Springtown Epigraph the volunteer program has a variety of training opportunities, ranging from animal handling for the shelter and traffic control for city events to general-purpose training such as CPR and first aid.
