Springtown High School’s Arts, Audio Video Technology and Communications program is a Career and Technical Education pathway where students gain hands-on experience in film, television and broadcasting. Students also build real-world skills in camera operation, audio and video editing and story writing.
Kari Hamilton teaches the CTE career cluster, including the principles class, Audio Video Production I, Audio Video Production II and the practicum class. Hamilton also teaches a graphic design class and a social media marketing class.
She told the Springtown Epigraph that in the first two years of the CTE pathway, students have a lot of classroom work, while in Audio Video Production II, students gain hands-on experience producing projects from start to finish. They are also getting ready for their professional certification exam — the Adobe Premiere Pro certification — which they will take during the second semester.
