Springtown High School Senior Mackenzie Flaugher has become a Track and Field sensation. Flaugher recently competed in the Region 1 AAAA Track and Field Meet where she won the triple jump for the fourth year in a row and set a new regional record with a jump of 39 feet, 6.25 inches. Her current record is 40 feet, 5.25 inches, and wants to hit 41 feet at the upcoming state meet in Austin.
As early as seventh grade, Flaugher was running and has never looked back. Her mom is her biggest influence for doing Track and Field as she was her coach when she was little. When Flaugher started running in high school, it was a totally different ball game for her.
“The skill level was completely different,” Flaugher said. “I ran with my friends in middle school and they weren’t the slowest but when I came up here, you see people that are way faster.”
