On Monday, April 28, Assistant Superintendent of Academics Tiffany Cano announced that Springtown ISD was selected to be a part of the Texas Strategic Leadership program.
The TSL program is an initiative that is supported by the Texas Education Agency to enhance leadership capacity of superintendents and their teams within Texas school districts. The program focuses on planning, coaching and the implementation of the Effective District Framework. Springtown ISD will partner with region 11 and through TSL to help with better student outcomes.
Cano presented to the board of trustees exactly what the program entails and how it will better the school district. One of the key aspects of the TSL program is executive coaching for superintendents and their teams to strengthen their leadership. Cano explained that the program helps districts develop plans based on a “ landscape analysis” of their current state and implement research-based strategies to pursue. The program also emphasizes a “systems thinking” approach which encourages district leaders to understand the systems that impact student outcomes. TSL supports districts in navigating change management processes and aligning stakeholders to implement strategic priorities. Cano emphasized that this program helps build up leadership at all levels within the district and not just at the superintendent level.
