Head athletic trainer and student trainers reflect on sports medicine class

High schools all over the state and the country have implemented Career and Technical Education programs that offer students a structured sequence of courses that combine academic learning along with technical and occupational skills. The classes help prepare them for college and their future careers. Springtown High School offers a variety of CTE classes like law enforcement, digital communications, welding and more.

One of the more popular classes within the CTE program is the sports medicine class taught by athletic trainer Austen Hutchison. Hutchison began his career at Lake Worth High School as an athletic trainer for three years before coming to Springtown. With a degree in athletic training, Hutchison saw the need for a sports medicine program at SHS.
