Former superintendent takes reins at city hall

Following a 22-year career in the Springtown ISD as a principal and superintendent of schools, Mike Kelley will shift his attention to the business of the city of Springtown after he was elected to the position of mayor in the May 3 election.

Kelley was elected in a landslide, garnering 447 votes or 71.75% of the vote. His opponent, Richelle Pruitt, vacated her seat in Place 4 on the Springtown City Council in order to run for the position. Pruitt received 176 votes or 28.25% of the vote.

The incumbent in Place 2 on the council, Michelle Chandler Kelley — who is not related to Mike Kelley — ran unopposed and received 526 votes.
