Most influential teacher: Darci Cosentino My earliest school memory was my first day of kindergarten. My dad was in the Army, so we just moved to a new state, and I was crying and scared. From my point of view, I was thrust into this new world with no preparation. After getting walked to the classroom door by my mom, I sat in the back of the room with no interest in talking to anyone. I remember my teacher coming up to me and asking me what my favorite color was. Just that one simple moment of reaching out made me comfortable enough to interact with my peers.
That first day has stuck with me throughout my educational career. Each year I learn more and more about how impactful teachers who care can be.
Going above and beyond for their students, providing a welcoming environment, and always pushing students to strive for excellence. Those qualities not only affect a student’s school year, but also the rest of their life. Based on my last four years in Springtown and the eight schools I have attended, Mrs. Cosentino has been my most influential teacher.
