Campers pursue virtues of the saints

Local girls raise money at Farmers Market in hopes of going to camp

Emilie Gutierrez, 13, Gabriella Garcia, 12, and Angela Garcia, 13, are raising money to go St. Clare Girls’ Camp this summer. The girls have been attending the Springtown Farmers Market once a month selling baked goods and treats to hopefully raise enough money to pay for the camp. At the first Farmers Market of the season March 22, the girls completely sold out of all the goods they made. At the most recent market, the girls raised more than $700. They hope to be at the market May 31 and raise more money for other girls to be able to attend camp.

Gabriella Garcia’s favorite item to make for the market was pie crusts.
