McGill speaks to SHS seniors at baccalaureate

Springtown High School hosted its annual baccalaureate service for students graduating in the class of 2025. A baccalaureate service is typically a nondenominational religious service or ceremony held in the days leading up to graduation. It is a more intimate and reflective event than the main graduation ceremony that often features speeches, music and a focus on the spiritual meaning of the transition to the next phase of life.

Fifty graduating seniors participated in this year’s baccalaureate. Student Body Vice President Riley Tidwell opened the baccalaureate with a prayer. Salutatorian Tyler King introduced the guest speaker of the night, the Rev. Terre McGill from First United Methodist Church of Springtown. McGill has been passionate about ministry since 1996 and became the pastor of first united in January 2023.
