How Ortega keeps Springtown’s events thriving
Crystal Rachele Ortega was born and raised in Dumas. When she graduated from Dumas High School in 2000, Ortega didn’t expect to be in a town where the colors are orange, black and white again. She married her husband Omar and had two daughters, then moved to Fort Worth for a time but decided city life was too much.
“I’m not a city girl — I’m a small-town girl,” Ortega said. “I’ve always had small town roots, and we found a home in Springtown. We were expecting our son, and we want them to grow up in a small town. You just have that community and you can’t really feel that in a big city.”
