The Springtown City Council hears a report from one of its departments each quarter. Tuesday night, June 17, it was the Springtown Police Department’s turn.
Springtown Deputy Chief of Police Jamie Oliver gave the quarterly report, which typically consists of crime statistics, number of arrests, number of citations, department updates, budget reports and more.
Oliver said the Springtown Police Department is currently staffed with 20 officers and one reserve officer. In this second quarter, the department had 2,213 traffic stops that resulted in 1,394 warnings and 819 citations. Calls for service were at 8,245; 1,622 were dispatch calls, 6,623 were cell-initiated calls, 199 suspicious activity calls, 86 accident calls and six were burglary calls which were unfounded. There were 21 thefts and 125 arrests, 69 of which were on-view arrests. The SPD served 56 warrants — issued by both Parker County and Springtown PD — performed 3,388 security checks and responded to 440 animal-related calls.
